Our Vision
At Solomon’s Porch Ministries (SPM), we envision a future where every mother and child are embraced by a community that nurtures resilience, independence, and success. Our Goals
-
Shelter Support
Shelter support provides a safe and stable environment for individuals and families facing housing insecurity or crisis situations. It goes beyond just offering a place to stay—it's a foundation for rebuilding lives. At Solomon’s Porch Ministries (SPM), our shelter support includes temporary housing, essential resources, and personalized guidance to help mothers and children regain stability.
-
Skills Training
Skills Training Classes provide essential education in life skills that empower mothers to create a stable, self-sufficient future for themselves and their children. Covering a wide range of topics—including parenting, job training, community support, budgeting, and more—these sessions equip participants with the tools needed to navigate daily challenges, secure meaningful employment, and build a strong support network.
By fostering confidence and practical expertise, our program helps mothers take control of their lives, demonstrating that success is within reach without reliance on government assistance.
-
The Workshop
The Workshop is a vital part of our program, offering families an opportunity to contribute to the ministry while developing valuable skills. Every family is required to dedicate at least one hour a day to crafting handmade products using the supplies provided. These creations are then sold, with proceeds directly supporting the mission of SPM.
Beyond financial sustainability, the workshop fosters a sense of purpose, teamwork, and accomplishment—helping mothers build confidence in their abilities. By engaging in hands-on work, participants gain experience in craftsmanship, responsibility, and entrepreneurial skills, laying the foundation for a path toward independence and self-sufficiency.
Accomodations
At Solomon’s Porch Ministries (SPM), we believe that stability and a strong support system are essential for families to rebuild their lives. Our shelter provides private rooms for each family, ensuring comfort, dignity, and personal space. Bathroom amenities are private but shared, featuring multiple showers with tubs, toilets, and sinks, designed to accommodate families while maintaining privacy. These shower towers are thoughtfully located on the residential upper two floors to enhance safety and provide a peaceful atmosphere.
Beyond private accommodations, our shelter fosters a strong sense of community through shared living spaces. Families can come together in designated areas designed for entertainment, study, and community engagement, encouraging connection and personal development. Whether it’s a space for children to study, a room for mothers to unwind, or areas for social gatherings and skill-building workshops, our environment supports healing, growth, and independence.
Additionally, residents have access to a dedicated laundry room equipped with washers and dryers, making daily routines more manageable and promoting self-sufficiency.
Our Name: Solomon’s Porch
“At the hands of the apostles many signs and wonders were taking place among the people; and they were all together in Solomon’s portico.”
Acts 5:12
Solomon’s Porch was a place where Jesus taught, where miracles occurred, and where the early church gathered. It symbolized a space of learning, healing, and community.
We aim to provide the same.
